"type":"text","title":"MANAGEMENT","body":"%3Cp%3E%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EWith%20the%20release%20of%20the%20IPHONE%205%2C%20I%20became%20more%20excited%20to%20graduate%20because%20I%20want%20it%20as%20my%20all-in-one%20gift%20for%20next%20year.%20%3B%29%20It%E2%80%99s%20nice%20to%20know%20that%20the%20apple%20company%20is%20still%20well-managed%20even%20if%20Steve%20Jobs%20isn%E2%80%99t%20there%20anymore.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3ESO%21%20On%20to%20management%E2%80%A6%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EManagement%20is%20one%20of%20those%20things%20than%20cannot%20be%20accomplished%20by%20teaching%20alone.%20You%20need%20to%20experience%20it%20first%20hand%20in%20order%20to%20have%20a%20grasp%20of%20what%20it%20really%20is.%20Anyway%2C%20compared%20to%20a%20leader%2C%20a%20manager%20leans%20toward%20the%20safe%20side-%20he%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20take%20risks%2C%20he%20works%20passively%20with%20the%20other%20members%20of%20the%20team%20or%20office%2C%20and%20he%20cares%20more%20about%20money.%20Well%2C%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20the%20books%20say.%20In%20truth%2C%20you%20really%20cannot%20see%20this%20in%20each%20and%20every%20manager%20that%20you%20may%20meet%20because%20some%20have%20become%20good%20leaders%20already.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EWhen%20it%20comes%20to%20the%20nursing%20side%20of%20it%2C%20the%20nurse%20manager%20can%20have%20one%20of%20the%20most%20difficult%20tasks%20because%20he%20is%20the%20one%20who%20will%20be%20making%20the%20schedule%20matrix%20for%20all%20his%20constituents%20in%2C%20let%20us%20say%20for%20example%2C%20the%20medicine%20ward.%20I%20could%20never%20imagine%20myself%20doing%20that%20kind%20of%20task.%20Our%20clinical%20coordinator%20does%20that%20in%20our%20college%20and%20there%20are%20still%20minor%20conflicts%20in%20the%20schedule%20and%20he%20is%20already%20a%20proficient-to-expert%20nurse%20in%20my%20perception.%20How%20much%20more%20if%20I%E2%80%99M%20the%20one%20doing%20that%3F%21%20I%20can%20only%20imagine%20that%20it%20would%20be%20a%20huge%20disaster.%20HAHA%21%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EI%20think%20that%20the%20one%20of%20the%20most%20precious%20elements%20in%20management%20is%20time%20because%20you%20cannot%20accomplish%20anything%20if%20you%20do%20not%20budget%20you%20time.%20You%20may%20be%20the%20chief%20nurse%20in%20the%20medicine%20ward%20but%20your%20being%20a%20chief%20nurse%20won%E2%80%99t%20do%20you%20any%20good%20if%20you%20cannot%20accomplish%20your%20own%20tasks.%20Managers%20should%20also%20consult%20ideas%20with%20his%20subordinates%20because%20you%20can%20never%20take%20them%20for%20granted%20since%20they%E2%80%99re%20part%20of%20the%20team.%20It%20also%20builds%20trust%20and%20confidence%20amongst%20them%20which%20would%20then%20lead%20to%20a%20more%20efficient%20group%20of%20people.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EManagers%20need%20to%20set%20goals%20that%20are%20SMART%20%28Specific%2C%20Measurable%2C%20Attainable%2C%20Realistic%2C%20and%20Time-Bounded%29%20in%20nature%20or%20your%20team%20will%20go%20nowhere.%20Having%20a%20budget%20is%20also%20of%20the%20essence%20because%20what%E2%80%99s%20the%20use%20of%20an%20organization%20without%20it%3F%20How%20can%20the%20people%20function%20%28HAHA%21%20Double%20meaning%20much%3F%21%29%3F%20People%20need%20it%20as%20much%20as%20food%20and%20water%20in%20order%20to%20get%20through%20day%20by%20day%20and%20if%20you%20cannot%20provide%20them%20with%20that%2C%20then%20what%E2%80%99s%20the%20use%20of%20working%20in%20your%20organization%3F%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EThe%20manager%20also%20has%20to%20have%20what%20it%20takes%20to%20solve%20problems%20within%20the%20organization%20because%20the%20organization%20functions%20as%20a%20single%20unit%20and%20if%20there%20is%20one%20or%20two%20who%20are%20arguing%2C%20then%20the%20org%20fails.%20He%20has%20to%20know%20what%20technique%20he%20is%20going%20to%20use%20in%20order%20to%20solve%20arguments%2C%20if%20there%20are%20any.%20But%20it%20cannot%20be%20avoided%20since%20each%20person%20in%20the%20org%20has%20his%20own%20weaknesses%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20the%20manager%E2%80%99s%20job%20to%20turn%20that%20to%20turn%20it%20to%20strength.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EBottom%20line%20is%2C%20management%20is%20not%20just%20an%20individual%20but%20also%2C%20a%20team%20effort%20since%20the%20manager%20and%20his%20constituents%20are%20in%20the%20same%20org%20and%20if%20one%20is%20not%20working%20properly%2C%20then%20the%20goals%20set%20by%20the%20org%20would%20not%20be%20attained.%3C%2Fp%3E%3C%2Fp%3E"

"type":"text","title":"LEADERSHIP","body":"%3Cp%3E%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EAfter%20I%20posted%20my%20first%20blog%20post%20in%2C%20like%2C%20FOREVER%E2%80%A6..I%20noticed%20that%20I%20lost%20quite%20a%20bit%20of%20followers%20%3Cspan%3EL%3C%2Fspan%3E.%20When%20I%20was%20still%20tumblr%20active%2C%20I%20had%20like%20a%20hundred%20or%20so%20and%20now%20only%20eighty%20six%20remained.%20However%2C%20it%E2%80%99s%20no%20use%20crying%20over%20spilled%20and%20spoiled%20milk%20%28ROOT%20CANAL%21%29.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EOK%21%20Next%20up%2C%20Leadership.%20Oh%20but%20before%20that%2C%20IPHONE%205%20STILL%20HAS%20NOT%20BEEN%20RELEASED%21%21%20-____-%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EOn%20to%20leadership%E2%80%A6.In%20my%20wee%20elementary%20years%2C%20I%20used%20to%20think%20that%20being%20a%20leader%20is%20quite%20nice-%20you%20get%20to%20be%20the%20primary%20decision%20maker%20in%20the%20group%20and%20your%20opinion%20matters%20more%20compared%20to%20the%20other%20members.%20Up%20until%20sixth%20grade%2C%20that%20was%20my%20mindset%20about%20leadership%2Fbeing%20a%20leader.%20But%20that%20all%20changed%20when%20I%20was%20in%20high%20school%20because%20I%20became%20a%20lazy%20student%20despite%20the%20fact%20the%20I%20study%20in%20a%20science%20high%20school%20named%20I%20D%20S.%20HAHA%21%20Ironic%20isn%E2%80%99t%20it%3F%20Then%20came%20the%20term%20%E2%80%9CTEAM%20NURSING%E2%80%9D%20in%20college%20wherein%20you%20and%20your%20group%20mates%20are%20really%20trained%20to%20be%20members%20of%20the%20healthcare%20team%20usually%20consisting%20of%20a%20practice%20clinical%20instructor%20or%20PCI%2C%20a%20team%20leader%2C%20two%20charge%20nurses%20who%20charts%20every%20little%20detail%20done%20to%20the%20patient%2C%20two%20medicine%20nurses%20who%20prepares%20and%20administers%20medications%20with%20the%20guidance%20of%20the%20PCI%20or%20the%20CI%20himself%2C%20and%20the%20primary%20nurses%20%28numbers%20vary%20per%20number%20of%20people%20per%20group%29%20who%20are%20always%20at%20the%20bedside%20with%20the%20patients.%20WOOOH%21%20So%20much%20isn%E2%80%99t%20it%3F%20That%20alone%20scares%20me%20quite%20a%20bit.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3ENext%20topic%2C%20Mr.%20Mayor.%20Mers%20na%20sa%20mga%20makabasa%20na%20pro%20sa%20iya.%20I%20DON%E2%80%99T%20CARE%20%26gt%3B%3A%29%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EAt%20first%20we%20all%20thought%20that%20he%20was%20a%20good%20mayor%20until%20the%20recent%20bombings%2C%20MILF%20attacks%2C%20and%20to%20good%20%E2%80%98ole%20manong%20sendong.%20I%20really%20cannot%20believe%20that%20he%20could%20be%20this%20selfish%20particularly%20after%20Sendong%20when%20I%20came%20upon%20the%20home%20that%20were%20supposed%20to%20be%20coming%20from%20the%20money%20of%20the%20government%20plus%20other%20monetary%20donations%20from%20everywhere%20around%20the%20world-%20the%20homes%20erected%20nead%20IMCC%20were%20made%20of%20very%20indigenous%20materials.%20I%20was%20really%20shocked%20that%20they%20did%20this%20on%20broad%20daylight-%20receiving%20money%20and%20using%20cheap%20materials%20to%20build%20houses%20for%20the%20sake%20of%20just%20building%20a%20house%2C%20or%20more%20like%20a%20tree-house-in-the-ground%20house.%20Thankfully%2C%20its%20his%20last%20term%20and%20I%20hope%20that%20the%20one%20who%20will%20replace%20him%20will%20be%20a%20better%20mayor%20than%20he%20is%20%28corruption%20is%20a%20given%20fact%20but%20please%2C%20next%20mayor%2C%20make%20it%20less%20visible%20to%20the%20public%20eye%29%20particularly%20focusing%20on%20the%20safety%20of%20this%20city%20from%20man-made%20and%20natural%20disasters%3Cspan%3E%C3%9F%3C%2Fspan%3E%20emergency%20nursing%20galore%20%3B%29%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3ELast%20would%20be%20Tito%20Sen%2C%20who%20deliberately%20copied%20his%20speeches%20from%20a%20female%20blogger%20and%20a%20dead%20American%20president.%20What%20a%20shame%20that%20we%20have%20this%20type%20of%20leaders%20elected%20here%20in%20the%20Philippines.%20My%20goodness%2C%20don%E2%80%99t%20you%20have%20a%20ghost%20writer%20or%20something%3F%21%20%28char%21%20Ghost%20writer%E2%80%A6.i%20just%20learned%20that%20it%20exists.%20LOL%29.%20Next%20time%2C%20if%20he%20EVER%20plans%20to%20make%20a%20speech%2C%20he%20should%20do%20what%20I%20said%20earlier%20or%20make%20his%20own.%20Even%20elementary%20students%20can%20make%20one%20so%20he%20is%20of%20no%20exception.%20If%20I%20were%20in%20his%20shoes%2C%20I%20would%20be%20ashamed%20of%20it.%20Leaders%20should%20have%20an%20intellectual%20capacity%20but%20in%20the%20Philippines%2C%20the%20one%20that%20wins%20the%20heart%20of%20the%20people%20wins%20the%20slot.%20On%20the%20other%20hand%2C%20its%20what%20makes%20it%20FUN%20here%20in%20the%20Philippines-stupid%20leaders%20who%20dare%C2%A0plagiarize%20others%26%238217%3B%20speeches%2Fpost.%20HAHA%21%C2%A0%3C%2Fp%3E%3C%2Fp%3E"

"type":"text","title":"NURSING%20ETHICS","body":"%3Cp%3E%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EHelooo%20TUMBLR%21%21%20It%E2%80%99s%20been%20a%20while%20since%20I%20last%20blogged%20in%20here.%20So%20many%20memories.%20Anyway%2C%20we%20were%20tasked%20to%20do%20a%20blog%20related%20to%20our%20LMR%20class%20so%20here%20it%20goes%E2%80%A6%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EWe%20need%20to%20write%20three%20articles%20related%20to%20Leadership%2C%20Management%2C%20and%20Nursing%20Ethics.%20Since%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20through%20nursing%20ethics%20a%20lot%2C%20then%20let%E2%80%99s%20start%20with%20it%21%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EThis%20topic%2C%20to%20me%2C%20by%20far%2C%20is%20one%20of%20the%20most%20troublesome%20in%20the%20nursing%20world%20because%20you%20may%20discuss%20each%20topic%20as%20it%20is%20but%20once%20it%E2%80%99s%20applied%20in%20the%20actual%20setting%2C%20you%20cannot%20avoid%20associating%20one%20to%20the%20others%20such%20as%20whether%20or%20not%20to%20euthanize%20a%20patient%20suffering%20from%20tremendous%20amounts%20of%20pain.%20That%20alone%20poses%20a%20lot%20of%20ethical%20dilemmas%20because%20you%20have%20to%20consider%20EVERYTHING%20or%20else%2C%20you%20might%20end%20up%20losing%20your%20one%20and%20only%20license%20that%20you%E2%80%99ve%20worked%20so%20hard%20for%20four%20to%20five%20years.%20Well%2C%20five%20years%20in%20my%20case%21%20%3B%29%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3ESomeone%20told%20us%20that%20we%20should%20not%20advocate%20to%20euthanasia%20but%20now%2C%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20think%20that%E2%80%99s%20totally%20possible.%20I%20mean%2C%20if%20you%20look%20closely%20at%20some%20hospitals%20here%20in%20Iligan%20City%2C%20you%20will%20probably%20notice%20that.%20Euthanasia%2C%20as%20defined%20by%20manong%20Wikipedia%2C%20refers%20to%20the%20practice%20of%20intentionally%20ending%20a%20life%20in%20order%20to%20relieve%20pain%20and%20suffering.%20There%20are%20types%20but%20I%20won%E2%80%99t%20go%20further%E2%80%A6you%20can%20look%20it%20up%20the%20net.%20HAHA%21%20In%20my%20case%2C%20I%20won%E2%80%99t%20go%20too%20far%20because%20I%20may%20regret%20it%20as%20some%20others%20have.%20Therapeutic%20abortion%2C%20I%20can%20handle%20but%20far%20worse%20than%20that%2C%20hmmm%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20know.%20Thankfully%2C%20I%20am%20a%20situation%20wherein%20decisions%20and%20actions%20like%20that%20won%E2%80%99t%20lie%20in%20my%20hands.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EThe%20thing%20is%2C%20you%20may%20end%20up%20in%20jail%20in%20cases%20that%20you%20make%20the%20wrong%20decisions%20like%20the%20Filipino%20nurse%20who%20helped%20an%20American%20because%20he%20was%20hit%20by%20some%20car%2C%20an%20accident.%20The%20nurse%20got%20the%20patient%20to%20the%20hospital%20which%20is%20referred%20to%20as%20the%20Good%20Samaritan%20Act.%20It%20would%20have%20been%20alright%20if%20he%20did%20not%20do%20something%20after%20that%2C%20but%20he%20was%20given%20a%20reward%20for%20what%20he%20has%20done%20to%20the%20patient%20and%20he%20ACCEPTED%20it%20and%20unluckily%2C%20the%20patient%20had%20some%20complications%20and%20the%20patient%E2%80%99s%20family%20pressed%20charges%20to%20the%20nurse.%20He%20would%20not%20have%20been%20guilty%20had%20he%20not%20accepted%20the%20money%20but%20he%20didn%E2%80%99t.%20You%20can%E2%80%99t%20do%20anything%20about%20that.%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%20class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3EOn%20the%20brighter%20side%2C%20there%20is%20also%20a%20law%20that%20aimed%20to%20protect%20nurses%20%28what%E2%80%99s%20the%20use%20of%20the%20branches%20of%20the%20government%20if%20they%20cannot%20pass%20a%20law%20to%20help%20protect%20the%20nurse%E2%80%99s%20rights%3F%29.%20I%20am%20not%20a%20lecturer%20on%20nursing%20ethics%20and%20I%20forgot%20to%20bring%20my%20notebook%20to%20the%20net%20caf%C3%A9%20so%20I%20won%E2%80%99t%20dig%20deeper.%20So%2C%20in%20conclusion%20to%20my%20first%20ever%20500-or-so-word%20blog%20post%2C%20there%20are%20no%20absolutes%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20nursing%20ethics%20because%20you%20have%20to%20weigh%20the%20pros%20against%20the%20cons%20in%20order%20to%20come%20up%20with%20an%20appropriate%20nursing%20intervention%20or%20management.%20You%20cannot%20do%20anything%20once%20the%20PATIENT%20wishes%20you%20to%20do%20things%20to%20him%20GRANTED%20that%20you%20have%20legal%20clearance%20to%20do%20so.%20Your%20concern%20must%20be%20the%20patient%20and%20his%20welfare.%3C%2Fp%3E%3C%2Fp%3E"
